Some interesting courses before we round the Kent coast..is it quicker to zig zag to the turn ( even with 1.7 knots extra wind ) ? than a straight line ?
Frank you are a couple hundred metres in front of me.. ( because i set the wrong sail for 10 minutes )

No it's not because the other TWA takes you East faster (which is why I'm losing ground ), but you need to judge the right time to dive down!Glenn a écrit :Some interesting courses before we round the Kent coast..is it quicker to zig zag to the turn ( even with 1.7 knots extra wind ) ? than a straight line ?

I was wondering, as i did not test that route; it did not make intuitive sense to use it. We will see at the eastern pointlimelight a écrit :No it's not because the other TWA takes you East faster (which is why I'm losing ground ), but you need to judge the right time to dive down!Glenn a écrit :Some interesting courses before we round the Kent coast..is it quicker to zig zag to the turn ( even with 1.7 knots extra wind ) ? than a straight line ?

by the way, i have only just figured out i need to tack on the iteration number ie 08, 18, 28 etc etc unlike my last 2 races. i wonder how much time that lost me previously ?

I find RG unlike LS very time consuming. Especially when setting out a course for the night or even longer.

yes a little bit, Frank, but that’s because we’re not used to RG tools. And after programming you can be quiet almost 12 hoursCoromandel a écrit :I find RG unlike LS very time consuming. Especially when setting out a course for the night or even longer.

I just can't get the waypoints under control Glenn because I am unable to find a way to see which sail to use at a waypoint and how to program it. Schedule point is no problem.

Re: Leg 1 : London - Punta del Este
Coromandel,
It's not possible to program a special sail at the waypoints: all waypoints are with the same sail.
Waypoints can be usefull for special tasks, like close to the ground.
But to route in open ocean, it's better to use the scheduler (with the polars in a new popup window - with the pin button).
The scheduler display the twa at each schedule point, then you can choose the best sail dependinig on the twa.
When adding a new schedule point, it is set 1 hour after the last schedule point. But you can change this time (hours / minutes)...
It's not a good idea to have waypoints and schedule points active at the same time
I think, but not sure, that the waypoints take over the schedule points.
Ask if in trouble with the scheduler
