I have a similar experience in my life.

Me and some good friends started Slot Racing scale 1/24 in Sweden.

I had found this business in the USA 1960 and brought a car and driving handle home with me. Together with my friends, we acquired a premises and built a track in Gothenburg.

Changed to a bigger venue and bigger track several times over the course of approx.13-16 years.

Then in 1978 we organized the world's first World Championship in a shopping center in Gothenburg.

There were 124 starters from all over the world incl. NZ, AUZ, Arg. Braz. USA

and from most countries in Europe incl. several from France.

Total success!

I know there is a lot about the incident in the French press from the time.
