The polar will be those of the foil imoca.
The cells of 1°
There will be 11 gates to avoid ice, as well as icebergs drifting.
For the icebergs, I’ll let Gégé tell you how they work.
At the start of the race, the classification will take place via the south buoy of gate 1, this to avoid
too favorable positioning of the pilot boat during the descent (seen the previous edition), if this
is not enough, I will put a dummy filing buoy.
Departure Sunday 8 November at 8 pm.

Regattagame offers you some gifts for this Vendée Globe 2020.

For the first three of the race and for three players drawn at random among those finishing the race there will be offered a cap, a tee-shirt or a mask.

Looking forward to the race, but not keen on so many gates in the Southern ocean and the fact that they are soo far North. This leads to follow the leader with not really any way to catch up lost ground. Gambling and going far South, as it is a shorter leg to Cape Horn, is one of the great tactics. That has now been squashed flat. Those using their routers who get to gate one first, will just stay in front on a point to point exercise. Not very happy with that, we may just as well had 7 different sprint legs between Cape of Good Hpe and Cape Horn

Hello Glenn,

I understand your disappointment but In the official instructions there are 72 crossing points to respect for the Great South !!!!

We don’t like putting so many gates either.

Fair winds.

Hi Glenn,
do you think the top skippers would not take advantage too,to go as far as possible south to shorten the route. With these very fast foil boats, even the small floating ice could be disastrous for the foil.Small floating ice could be much norther pushed by great waves and having one ninth visible is practically not visible in great waves.Therefor it is obvious the route should be norther for safety in real race and we follow that route too.
Manage to stay in top 30 and you are OK.
Fair winds

Frank,

we are talking about the instructions race for the real race, not for the regattame race.
